Bathtub & Shower : The Best Cleaning Tips And Tricks
The bathroom can easily be the dirtiest room in the house. The bath and the shower can quickly show traces of mould and dirt. It can also give off a bad smell. We, therefore, have every interest in cleaning it frequently and eliminating germs and bacteria that hang around. Here are some great tips my grandmother swear by to clean her bathtub quickly and without much effort.
1 Get rid of soap stains
Clean the soap scum in your shower by filling a kitchen dish brush with a bit of vinegar and the same amount of liquid dish soap. Using the brush makes the job so easy that you can even do it while you shower.
2 Cleaning your showerhead
Fill a Ziploc bag with vinegar and wrap it around your showerhead. Secure it with an elastic band and leave it there until all the stains are gone. Don’t forget to rinse with warmish water before taking your shower.
3 Remove water stains
Use a lemon to scrub water stains from your shower.
4 Wash the tiles
Use a bleach pen to clean the areas between the tiles in your shower.
5 Powerful cleaner
- 250 ml of liquid detergent
- 250 ml of hot white vinegar
- 1 funnel
- 1 spray bottle
- Heat the vinegar on the stove. It should be very hot, but not boiling.
- Use a funnel to fill a spray bottle with detergent and vinegar. Mix by simply rolling the bottle, rather than shaking it.
- Then you can spray a small amount on the surface you want to clean and scrub lightly with a sponge.
- Allow the mixture to do its job for about 30 minutes before washing the dirty area with a cloth and cold water.
6 Sparkling clean bathtub
One way to get rid of germs and make your bath shine is to use a combination of 1/2 cup vinegar, 1 cup rubbing alcohol and 1/4 cup water. Add all these ingredients to 4 litres of hot water. Spread the solution evenly over the dirty areas, leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse well.
7 Homemade cleaner
Mix half a cup of vinegar with half a cup of dish soap. This will remove dirt and make your shower or bath shine.
8 Shower gel for daily maintenance
Shower gel can not only allow you to wash your body but also help clean apparent rings in your bath. All you need to do is pour some in your tub after bathing and scrub it with a towel. This is my grandmother’s favourite trick because it’s quite easy to add to your routine and doesn’t ask you much physical effort.
9 Whiten your porcelain bathtub
You can use your toothpaste to clean your bath and make it sparkle. Apply about 1 tablespoon of toothpaste on a sponge and scrub the inside of your bath.
10 Clay stone
This product can help you clean your bath. However, be sure to rinse well thoroughly afterwards as this will make it difficult for you to get rid of the clay stone deposit.
