A Brazilian butt lift is not the solution to a bigger bottom
Beauty and cosmetic trends are not all bad. We’re not against eyelash extensions, lash lifts or even microneedling if they are performed by trusted professionals because sometimes, these small beauty tweaks can make a world of difference in someone’s confidence so who are we to judge? However, there are some cosmetic procedures that have had such a bad reputation that we don’t endorse them at all. Take the Brazilian butt lift, also known as BBL, for example. This type of buttock augmentation has had many significant negative repercussions on so many women that it’s difficult to recommend this cosmetic surgery to anyone. Curious to know what it’s all about? Continue reading and discover how you can naturally sculpt and lift your buttocks.
What is a Brazilian butt lift?
This surgery was not invented in Brazil or by a Brazilian plastic surgeon. However, Brazilian women are known for their curves, with smaller waists compared to their bottoms so the name was inspired by Latin American women’s bodies. This procedure requires a cosmetic surgeon to transfer fat from the lower body like the thighs and the lower back and abdomen to the butt area to reshape it, giving it fullness and a more rounded silhouette. One could say it was a facelift for the butt. The hourglass physique many women crave can easily be sculpted by a certified plastic surgeon and create the booty of their dreams all while getting rid of excess fat in problem areas like the thighs, lower back and abdomen. It’s like a tummy tuck and body contour surgery all at once.
What does the surgery entail?
For a Kardashian-approved butt, the surgical procedure involves general anesthesia, the liposuction of fat from areas like the hips, abdomen and lower back, which is then extracted and purified. The purified fat is then injected in the buttocks to create that Brazilian-liked shape.
There is minimal pain after the surgery but patients must not sit or lie directly on their backside for a good two weeks except when going to the bathroom.
Does your butt go back to its original state after some time?
An experienced plastic surgeon who does a good job will result in a lasting Brazilian butt lift but it is important to note that the booty decreases by around 50% after a few months but then stabilizes. Also, the fat transferred during the liposuction will not return to its original location, it will stay put.
Why are BBLs risky?
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the BBL is the surgery with the highest death rate. Women are so desperate to have a big bum and a small waist that many will choose any surgeon in countries like Turkey who promote this surgery without doing the research. There are risks of complications when doing this procedure but women seem to be blinded by the potential results and not the potentials risks. Risks like not injecting in the right place or using fillers instead of the patients own fat cells can cause infections and unfortunate scarring. Injecting the fat too deeply into the skin, into the muscle, could even prompt serious health problems or even cardiac arrest because the fat can go into the veins and then to the heart. Additionally, thinner women want an hourglass shape but don’t realize that this procedure relies on fat. A certified plastic surgeon will never work with so little fat. An unskilled surgeon is also more likely to botch the sculpting and contouring of the buttocks, which could result in an uneven and bumpy surface.
