Steam it, sauté it, bake it, add it to every recipe, kale is good for you. But by now, you probably knew that. The dark leafy green of the cabbage family is a well-known nutrient-dense vegetable. For years now, the fad that never died can be found everywhere and in every form—kale chips, kale sauerkraut, kale smoothies. But why is everyone ingesting it on the regular? What makes the cruciferous green the better green? Let’s shine a light on the benefits of kale and why its reign shall go on.


Nutritional power of kale

Kale is a serious gold mine of nutrients. A single cup packs more than the daily value of vitamin C and more than double the daily value of vitamin A and vitamin K. It is also a good source of vitamin B6 as well as manganese, copper, calcium, potassium and magnesium. Coming with approximately 33 calories, this makes it one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables.


Medicinal Properties of kale

Loaded with antioxidants, Kale is a good addition in the fight against free radicals and oxidative damage resulting, among other things, in ageing and as well as several diseases. The dark green cruciferous vegetable can also help lower cholesterol levels which promotes a healthy heart. Finally, kale is known to contain several substances that are believed to help prevent and protect against cancer.
