The practice of mindfulness meditation not only helps to reduce stress and anxiety, but also helps reduce the risk of developing depressive symptoms according to a Belgian scientific study conducted on 400 young people aged 13 to 20 years and reported on the Futura Santé website.  There is nothing surprising about that. After all, this meditation technique developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn aims to focus on breathing, sensations, and thoughts without judging them. This allows us to focus on the present moment and, in this way, to move away from the stress often created by an apprehended event.


2 Say goodbye to stress and anxiety

Meditation, like yoga, is a good way to reduce stress and anxiety. If you tend to have anxiety attacks, you should immediately make meditation part of your routine. Be aware that it can also reduce anxiety disorders such as phobias and social anxiety. It is therefore worth meditating to take a step back from stressful situations and reconnect with your inner peace.


3 Meditation: a cure for insomnia

Meditation is also a good remedy for insomnia. Indeed, practicing mindfulness meditation helps to relax and fall asleep. In addition, this meditation technique allows you to do breathing exercises, clear your mind and relieve the tensions created by stress. You can, therefore, fall asleep with complete peace of mind.


4 Have a fulfilling sex life

In addition to being a natural antidepressant, meditation can help you have a fulfilling sex life. In fact, by meditating, you will be much more rested and less stressed. Since stress and fatigue are two of the great enemies of libido, you will probably want to have some physical contact with your loved one… at least, we hope!


5 Meditation helps to reduce some chronic pain

Another advantage of meditation is the reduction of physical pain. According to researchers at the University of California, meditation has positive effects on the areas of the brain that control pain. They would have come to this conclusion after conducting a comparative study on a group of people who had been practising meditation for a long period of time and another group who had never meditated.

 

Meditation, therefore, has advantages over mental and physical health. Whether you choose transcendental meditation, mindfulness meditation or another meditation technique, it has beneficial effects on body and mind, and can undoubtedly help you to feel better.
