Are These Kirkland Products Actually Big Brands In Disguise?
Kirkland Signature brand exceeded $59 billion in sales in Costco’s 2021 fiscal year, up 13.4 percent year-over-year and accounting for 31 percent of the wholesale club’s total revenue. Costco’s Kirkland Signature now sells for up to 20% less than other national brand names.
Third-party vendors make many of their products and famous brand names stand behind them. Savvy shoppers know that they can find quality ingredients for a fraction of the cost. We’ve compiled a list of Kirkland products that are big-name items in disguise.
1 Kirkland Signature Vodka: Grey Gobaose Vodka
Supposedly, Grey Goose vodka is behind Costco’s Kirkland Signature Vodka. But is this really the case? We did some digging and discovered that this year’s old belief is not true. For starters, Costco doesn’t disclose on the bottle where they make their product when this is usually the case.
There is also the fact that Grey Goose flat-out denied the popular rumor. Joe McCanta, Grey Goose’s Global Head of Education, told USA TODAY, “No, Grey Goose Vodka does not produce nor privately label Kirkland vodka,” he added. “This is a viral claim that has circled Grey Goose for many years, and it’s completely false.” So, there you have it. No ambiguity possible here.
2 Kirkland Signature Naturally Wood Smoked Bacon: Hormel
It will thrill bacon-lovers to learn that Hormel manufactures the Kirkland Signature Naturally Wood Smoked Bacon. There’s no big mystery here because it says so right on the packaging. This means that you can get yummy pre-cooked bacon in bulk at Costco.
A reviewer at Costcuisine wrote, “This bacon is pretty tasty! Not as good as bacon straight out of the frypan, but for a super convenient bacon it’s pretty enjoyable.” The price is a bargain at just $16.99 for a 500g package. We think that’s a good deal for Hormel quality bacon.
3 Kirkland Signature Tuna: Bumble Bee
Another Costco item that is a big brand in disguise is the Kirkland Signature White Albacore Tuna. Bumble Bee Foods actually supplies this product. CNN Money spoke with Tim Rose, who oversees Costco’s food division, who confirmed the partnership.
“Costco decided that the canned tuna on the market had declined in quality from 10 years before. So Costco set out to create tuna ‘like it used to be’—more substantial, with fewer floating flakes,” Rose continued. “Eventually, it struck a deal with Bumble Bee and spent a year overseeing tests in a Puerto Rico plant.”
4 Kirkland Signature Batteries: Duracell
If you prefer to buy batteries in bulk, then Costco is a great option, and we have a little-known secret for you. Duracell manufactures Kirkland Signature Batteries. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Costco’s CEO, Craig Jelinek, revealed the tip to WSB-TV’s consumer advisor, Clark Howard.
The two walked through Costco when he pointed to Kirkland Signature batteries and remarked that Duracell made them. “Now, this brand here is no advertising, there’s no overhead, there’s just packaging. We don’t advertise it. It’s just a brand,” Jelinek said. That’s enough proof for us.
5 Kirkland Signature Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese: Formaggi Zanetti
The cheese selection at Costco will thrill cheese-lovers. Many of their specialty cheeses are outsourced and made in Italy. You should add the Kirkland Signature Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese to your grocery list because it’s produced by the Italian brand Formaggi Zanetti.
It even says so on the back of the package. According to Hip2Save, not all Costco cheeses are imported, BUT this is a “great deal for cheese” that is “cut and packed in Italy”. The Parmigiano is aged for over 24 months and is sold for just $11.79 a pound! That’s one bargain you shouldn’t pass up.
6 Kirkland’s Signature Real Mayonnaise: Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise
There has been speculation that Kirkland’s Signature Real Mayonnaise is backed by Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise. The folks over at Chowhound decided to get to the bottom of the rumor and reached out to Costco’s rep to find out what company produces the Kirkland mayo.
Their response was, “E.D. Smith is the Vendor of KS Mayo.” This brand manufactures many of the jam and jelly packets distributed to hotels. We have to say that the possible relationship between Hellmann’s and Kirkland Signature Mayonnaise is one Costco myth that can’t be backed up.
7 Kirkland Signature Blended House Whiskey: Alexander Murray
There is plenty of speculation surrounding Costco’s alcohol selection, including rumors of big brands standing behind Costco’s liquors. Most have been debunked, but we have confirmation on this next item. The independent bottler, Alexander Murray, makes The Kirkland Signature Blended House Whiskey or Single Malt Scotch.
CEO Stephen Lipp and Alexander Murray revealed during an interview with Market Watch Magazine that their company produced the Kirkland Signature house brand since 2007. The Alexander Murray & Co. Ltd. label is on the back of every bottle. This is one year’s old myth that turns out to be true.
8 Kirkland Bath Tissue: Charmin
While there was a rumor going around that Charmin was behind the Costco brand, we couldn’t find evidence to back this one up. This got us thinking, though. How does the Kirkland Signature Bath Tissue compare to top brands?
There is a Reddit discussion board dedicated to the topic, and one commenter argued that the Kirkland Signature Bath Tissue comes out equal to Charmin in quantity and price. “I can’t say the Charmin lasts longer per roll than the Kirkland, even though you can use fewer squares on the Charmin. Charmin has fewer squares per roll, it’s a draw there,” they wrote.
9 Kirkland Signature Full Synthetic SAE 54-30: Warren Motor Oil
>Costco is good for more than just groceries because they also carry tires and other car necessities. You can even purchase motor oil at Costco. Warren Oil makes Kirkland Signature Full Synthetic SAE 54-30; it clearly states their name on the back of the jug, so there’s no mystery there.
Warren also manufactures AmazonBasics motor oil, so you know that you’re buying a top-notch product for a lot less money. With a price point of $24.39 for five quarts, you shouldn’t pass up this impressive bargain. This one more example of a big brand standing behind the Kirkland label.
10 Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: Ti Point Winery
We have an insider tip for all the wine aficionados out there. Many of Costco’s wines come from big-name vineyards. If you spin a bottle of Kirkland wine around, the source is right there on the label. Yet, there are a few varieties where the winery is embedded in the name of the wine.
The New Zealand label Ti Point makes Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. You get all the crisp flavor of a vintage wine without the hefty price tag. This bottle goes for just $6.99. It almost seems too good to be true.
11 Kirkland Signature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter: Jif
Kirkland Signature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter is very similar to Jif Natural Peanut Butter. The quality and ingredients are a near-match, but for just $11.49, you can get two 28 ounce jars at Costco. That’s quite a good bargain, if you ask us.
The folks at Cost Cuisine wrote about the product, “This is a natural peanut butter meaning it doesn’t have added ingredients like sugar, etc. Sometimes natural nut butter I’ve tried isn’t very flavorful but not the Kirkland Signature Natural Peanut Butter! It’s full of flavor and tastes pretty close to big brand name not all-natural peanut butter. It’s creamy, smooth, thick and full of peanut flavor.”
12 Kirkland Signature Organic No-Salt Seasoning: McCormicks
When it comes to Kirkland’s Signature Organic No-Salt Seasoning, shoppers get both quality and quantity at a great price. Although there is no official word on the matter, rumor has it that Costco’s version is a McCormick duplicate.
We all know that McCormick’s seasonings and spices are top-notch, but Kirkland’s Signature Organic No-Salt Seasoning boasts a blend of 21 spices, is USDA-certified organic, and low in sodium. This is one Costco deal you shouldn’t pass up.
13 Kirkland Signature Unsalted Butter: Tillamook Butter
Do you enjoy baking? If so, then you should purchase Kirkland Signature Unsalted Butter at Costco because it’s both affordable and high-quality. It’s rumored that this product is a rebrand of the dairy collective Tillamook Butter. Both kinds of butter are certified Grade AA unsalted sweet cream.
The folks over at CostcoCouple wrote a review saying, “We don’t use enough butter to purchase it at Costco so we normally purchase it from Safeway. It cost more for a pound of non-organic butter ($5.99) than the organic one at Costco. So, if you bake a lot or use butter for cooking, do check out the organic version at Costco.”
14 Kirkland Signature La Mancha Spanish Saffron: La Mancha
Sometimes you can find amazing big-name products for a fraction of the cost at Costco. They offer excellent saffron from Castilla La Mancha in Spain. For just $13.19, you can purchase this typically pricey spice for a deep discount.
Costco buyer Gary Kotzen told The Seattle Times, “We want the best of the best, and we want to offer it to our members without them having to pay the premium,” Kotzen said. “We’ll bring it in, package it ourselves, and offer it to our members at about one-third or even one-fifth of the cost of similar saffron. We did the same thing in 1997 with Tuscan olive oil.”
15 Kirkland Signature Raw Tail-On Shrimp: Kader Exports
Good news for shrimp lovers, Costco partnered with Kader Exports, who supplies big-name grocers, to bring shoppers Kirkland’s Raw Tail-On Shrimp. You can buy 2 lbs of Signature Kirkland Raw Tail-On Shrimp for just $19.29 at Costco.
One reviewer over at Cost Cuisine wrote about this product, “I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh, plump, flavorful and tasty the Costco Kirkland Signature Tail-On Cooked Shrimp are! I sautéed them in a bit of butter and they tasted great! You could definitely eat these defrosted, plain with some seafood sauce or you can add them to pasta, salads or other dishes.”
16 Kirkland Signature Diapers: Huggies
Parents who are looking to buy them diapers in bulk, but don’t want to skimp on quality should buy Kirkland Signature Diapers. Many customers believe that Costco’s diapers are made by Kimberly Clark, who produces the Huggies brand. Although, we couldn’t find confirmation of this rumor.
Either way, parents who choose Kirkland Signature Diapers love the discounted price and have good things to say about the quality. Today’s Parents asked moms to put them to the test. One commenter said, “My favorite brand—no strong smells—overall fit larger so lasts longer in one size.” The bottom line is Kirkland Signature Diapers are a good deal.
17 Kirkland Signature Chinet Plastic Red Cups: Chinet
Looking to stock up on party supplies? Costco has amazing deals on all the products you’ll need to throw a fun bash. From plates to napkins, they’ve got you covered. If your list includes plastic cups, you’ll love this next insider tip. Costco coupled up with Chinet to produce the Kirkland Signature Chinet Plastic Big Red Cup.
Chinet’s name is even on the packaging. The price is right too at just $11.79 for a 240 count of cups. You can find Chinet at other big box stores, like Walmart and Target, but you won’t be able to find them at such a low price.
18 Kirkland Signature Pet Food: Diamond Naturals
People may associate low-quality with discount stores like Costco, but many of their products are high-quality brands in disguise. When it comes to pet food, the well-known brand Diamond Pet Foods, Inc. makes Kirkland Signature Pet Food.
Diamond Pet Foods also produces other leading brands like Taste of the Wild, Solid Gold, Premium Edge, and Artemis. The Kirkland Signature Small Formula Chicken & Vegetable Dog Food gets 4.5 out of 5 stars and one reviewer wrote, “I have complete faith in this brand for so many things… and now I can add another great product to my list.”
19 Kirkland Signature by Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice: Bolthouse Farms Carrot Juice
Some brand names behind Costco’s products are hidden, but many of them are obvious. Bolthouse Farms makes Kirkland Signature by Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice. There’s no mystery here, as they display it right on the label.
If you like carrot juice, then you’ll love this brand. It’s certified organic and the only ingredient is organic carrot juice. So you know it’s a healthy option. You can buy a 3-pack of 32-oz bottles for just $6.99. Kirkland Signature by Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice is good for both your body and your wallet.
20 Costco Gasoline: Mobil
Costco members often fill up their tank after they shop because they can get great deals. So, who exactly supplies their gas? We went straight to the source and discovered what Tim Hurlocker, Costco’s Director of Fuel Quality and Compliance, had to say on the subject.
“Costco buys fuel from major refineries and distributors in each area. All Kirkland Signature™ Fuel is fully guaranteed, just like the merchandise we sell inside the warehouse,” he wrote. While Mobil isn’t a direct supplier, you can feel confident you’re buying top-tier gas at Costco. That’s excellent news!
21 Kirkland Signature Hot Dogs: Hebrew National
Chances are that if you’ve ever shopped at Costco, you probably stopped by their food court for one of their world-famous hot dogs. Shoppers love their $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Did you know that it all started with one Hebrew National hot dog cart?
In 1984, the company set up a cart in front of a San Diego Costco, and the rest is history. Hebrew National supplied Costco’s food court hot dogs until 2009, when they made the switch to the Kirkland Signature brand hot dogs. Be sure to grab one next time you’re shopping because they’re so tasty.
22 Kirkland Rotisserie Chicken: Big Box Rotisserie Chicken
One of Costco’s most popular items is the Kirkland Rotisserie Chicken. At just $4.99 for a 3 lb chicken, it’s a steal. That totally beats out any price at the big box grocery stores. For example, Kroger charges $8.99 for their 3 lb whole chicken.
So, who manufactures Costco’s delicious chicken? They’re sourced by Lincoln Premium Poultry. According to Jessica Kolterman, a spokeswoman for Lincoln Premium Poultry, Costco sells approximately 60 million rotisserie chickens each year. That’s a lot of chicken! You really can’t turn down an offer as good as this one.
23 Kirkland Signature Purified Bottled Water: Niagara Purified Bottled Water
You can find great prices on Costco products and big names produce many of their Kirkland items. Another example is Kirkland Signature Purified Bottled Water, which is sourced by Niagara Purified Water. This isn’t a secret, as it says so right on the bottle.
Niagara Bottling also produces bottled water for other big box stores like Walmart and Safeway. The price point is close at all stores, so you won’t save on the price at Costco. Yet, you can feel confident knowing you’re buying quality purified water when you purchase Kirkland Signature Purified Bottled Water.
24 Kirkland Signature Ultra-Clean Laundry Detergent: Persil Laundry Detergent
Laundry detergent can be pricey, so smart shoppers know to buy Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean Laundry Detergent, especially since there’s been talk of it being made by the same company that makes Persil. It’s rumored that Henkel is the manufacturer of Costco’s UltraClean Line.
One happy customer took to Amazon to give Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean Laundry Detergent a glowing review, writing, “Best. Detergent. Ever. Smells awesome and gets my clothes clean. What else do you want? Oh yeah, it’s less expensive than Tide and Consumer Reports rates it a top pick ALL THE TIME.”
25 Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate: Blommer’s Chocolate
Do you love chocolate? If so, we have good news for you when it comes to your options at Costco. You don’t have to break the bank and buy Hershey or Mars brands when shopping at Costco because the Kirkland brand offers high-quality chocolate at a reasonable price.
>Their signature chocolate is produced by Blommer, who according to their website is the largest cocoa processor and ingredient chocolate supplier in North America. You can choose from a variety of yummy flavors, such as Kirkland Signature Chocolate Covered Almonds or Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Salted Caramel Macadamia Cluster.
26 Kirkland Signature Organic Greek Yogurt: Ehrmann Yogurt
Another staple in many households is Greek yogurt, but it can be pricey. The quality of the Kirkland Signature Organic Greek Yogurt might surprise you. There’s a reason that it tastes so yummy. It’s actually Ehrmann Yogurt in disguise.
There’s even a discussion about Costco’s Greek yogurt over at Chowhound. One commenter wrote, “Kirkland Greek Yogurt is produced by a German company called Ehrmann. They have two plants; one is in Casa Grande, Arizona, and the other is in Brattleboro, Vermont.” So you can get outstanding quality for much less. Better pocket those savings!
27 Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream: Humboldt Creamery’s Vanilla Ice Cream
Ice cream lovers rejoice! Costco customers rave about the Kirkland Signature Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream and for good reason. Not only can you buy it for a reasonable price, but it’s manufactured by the California-based Humboldt Creamery.

28 Kirkland Signature Handcrafted Ales and Lagers: Gordon Biersch Beer

This is another Costco product that is a big name in disguise. The Takeout reported, “The Kirkland beers are labeled as brewed by Hopfen Und Malz Brewing Co.,[that] is actually Gordon Biersch (San Jose, California) or Matt Brewing (Utica, New York), depending on where in the U.S. your Costco is.”

The folks over at POPSUGAR wrote a review of Costco’s brie and only had good things to say. “Buttery and ripe, this double-cream Kirkland Signature Isigny French Brie pairs oh so nicely with a fresh baguette. However, you can also bake it for a warm, gooey appetizer,” they wrote.
32 Kirkland Signature Reynolds Foil: Reynolds Wrap
It’s tricky to figure out what Costco brands are made by popular name brands. Not so with Kirkland Signature Reynolds Foil. Not only does the packaging look similar to Reynold’s Wrap, but the giveaway is in the name, making it obvious that the two companies partnered up on the product.
Buying foil in bulk helps reduce costs and thanks to the partnership between Costco and Reynold’s Wrap, you can get the same high-quality product for a lot less. Which is nice for your pocketbook, and the quality is still top-notch. That’s a win/win in our book.

The latest shampoo/conditioner I used was Matrix Biolage and my hair is even nicer using Kirkland. Costco caused confusion when they changed the packaging on the Kirkland Signature ProCare Infant Formula. It was first made by the people behind Similac, but Perrigo took over the production. Either way, you still get a big name product at a lower price.
The new formula earned 4.1 stars and one mom wrote, “We were a bit surprised when Costco decided to change up the formula and packaging on already good baby formula. But the new one is more and the same price as the old one. Our baby really likes it and it doesn’t clump or create any bubbles. Always trust Costco’s Kirkland!”
39 Kirkland Signature Wines: E & J Gallo Wines
Wine connoisseurs should know a little secret. Many of Costco’s wines are made by reputable vineyards. One long-standing rumor is that E & J Gallo Wines is behind Kirkland Signature Wines. While we can’t confirm this to be 100% true, the folks at Yahoo did a bit of digging on the subject.
Here’s the evidence they uncovered: “An Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau registry links Kirkland Signature’s California wines to E & J Gallo Winery and its Italian wines to Ethica Wines. The Bureau regulates and collects taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and firearm trading within the U.S.” There you have it!

Java-lovers, listen up! Do you prefer to use K-Cups for your coffee but don’t want to skimp on quality? Then rest easy because Costco teamed up with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to produce Kirkland’s Breakfast Blend and Pacific Bold, a move that happened almost a decade ago.

This announcement came with the fact that Green Mountain is the exclusive manufacturer of Kirkland Signature K-Cups,” the company announced in a statement.
43 Kirkland Signature Nature’s Three Berry Blend: Townsend Farms
Health-conscious shoppers often like to buy frozen berries for smoothies. While many of Costco’s third-party partnerships are kept under wraps, we often discover which manufacturers are behind the Kirkland brand when one of their products is recalled. That’s how we learned about Kirkland Signature Nature’s Three Berry Blend being produced by Townsend Farms.
According to Livingly, “In 2019, the FDA found that a ‘domestic conventional frozen blackberry product’ made by Townsend Farms may be contaminated with Hepatitis A and needed to be recalled, and Costco pulled its Kirkland Three Berry Blend off of its shelves,” Marlen Komar wrote.

45 Kirkland Signature Organic Tortilla Chips: Mission Foods
We had to do a bit of detective work to confirm the next item on this list. We can confirm that Kirkland Signature Organic Tortilla Chips were once produced by Mission Foods, based out of Texas because the logo used to be stamped on the back of the bag.
That was until Costco changed the packaging, and the stamp suddenly disappeared from sight. Mission Foods still appears as the supplier on Costco’s website’s description of Kirkland Signature Organic Tortilla Chips, so we’re going to assume this one is actually true. Regardless, you can find amazing deals on this item at Costco.
46 Kirkland Signature Children’s Complete Multivitamin Gummies: Kev And Cooper
Parents who take their children’s health and nutrition seriously may be interested to know about Kirkland Signature Children’s Complete Multivitamin Gummies. In fact, your guests will probably be surprised by how little this bottle costs when they taste its quality.” Here is a product with an excellent quality/price ratio!
49 Kirkland Signature Nut & Granola Bars: Kind
We want to let you in on a secret. You can sometimes find amazing bargains on items at Costco and while the Kirkland Signature Nut Bars aren’t backed by a brand name, the ingredients are practically identical to KIND bars. The bars are actually made by Leclerc Foods USA, but they taste the same as their KIND bar counterparts.
You’ll go nuts for the price as well as a box of 30 Costco’s Nut Bars regularly sells for $14.99, while a box of only 10 KIND Bars will cost you $18.99. That’s significant savings for the same product if you don’t mind going off-brand. Why pay more for the same product?

First off, let me say that the quality of the teabag itself is great! The tea leaves are encased in a silk bag with a woven thread, the kind of quality you would expect from high-end brands.”
51 Kirkland Premium Dishwasher Packs: Cascade
There have been several reports online linking Costco’s Kirkland’s Premium Dishwasher Packs to Cascade. We did some digging, and it turns out that the product is manufactured by Kirkland Inc, so this appears to be just a rumor.
Consumer Reports named Costco’s version the second-best detergent next to Cascade. “Kirkland Signature Premium Dishwasher Pacs are tough on messes, earning an Excellent rating in CR’s tests for cleaning dishes and do a superb job keeping washed-off food from winding up on dishes. The price per load is 11 cents. Sparkling performance at a low price makes this dishwasher detergent a CR Best Buy,” they wrote.

For example, the Kirkland Signature 1-Day Disposable Lenses are identical to the CooperVision MyDay one-day disposable contact lenses.
They’re not just a similar item, because the Kirkland Signature 1-Day Disposable Lenses are just a re-brand of the CooperVision lenses. Fair warning, some shoppers reported that Costco’s version can cost a bit more, so be sure to comparison shop with other retailers before making this purchase.
53 Kirkland Signature Contact Solution: BioTru
It’s time for us to dispel a rumor and uncover the truth. If you’re on the market for a contact lens solution, be sure to pick up Costco’s Kirkland Signature Contact Solution. An entire Reddit thread was dedicated to the item, and many have claimed that the solution is manufactured by BAUSHE+LOMB.

Costco customers are raving about the flavor and the price. It’s even gotten amazing reviews from discerning professionals.
According to Forbes, “If Kirkland Signature Blended Scotch whisky is reminiscent of Dewar’s that’s not because it’s really Dewar’s in Kirkland packaging, but because Alexander Murray’s blenders have deliberately crafted a facsimile of the aroma and flavor profile of Dewar’s, the best-selling blended Scotch whisky in the US,” they wrote.
56 Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes: Nice-Pak
Let’s face it, buying baby products can get pricey. Between diapers and baby wipes, parents can spend a small fortune. So, this next tip is for all the moms and dads out there. Costco’s Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes have an impressive price point and you may not be aware that they are a big brand in disguise.
The wipes are manufactured by Nice-Pak who also produces Target’s Up and Up wipes. They contain aloe, vitamin E, and are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. And the best part is, the Kirkland brand goes for much less than they would at Target. That’s a win/win in our book!

There’s nothing cozier than a bowl of hot soup on a cold day, or when you are sick, or, really, anytime. Costco customers totally rave about Kirkland’s Signature Tomato Basil Bisque, which is backed by Campbell’s Soup Company, the leading manufacturer of soups in America.
While the item has been discontinued in Costco stores, we have an insider tip. You can still purchase the soup online. You can sometimes find good deals on unexpected luxury items at Costco. The Kirkland Signature Borghese Revitalizing Face Serum comes with high praise and is manufactured by Borghese, as stated on the label. While this partnership seemed like a fantastic match, the item is discontinued in stores.
Although, you can still purchase the serum on Amazon. One reviewer wrote, “I had not been able to find the Kirkland Revitalizing Face Serum on the shelves at Costco anymore, so was delighted to be able to buy it through Amazon. It is an excellent quality serum, and does wonders for the skin.”
59 Costco’s Kirkland Signature Chablis Premier Cru: Jean-Marc Brocard
The extensive wine selection at Costco is quite impressive. Clever customers know that Costco’s Kirkland Signature Chablis Premier Cru is a creation of winemaker Odile van der Moere. The cellar master’s name appears on the back of the bottle, linking the wine to the French winery Jean-Marc Brocard.
Further inspection leads to the nearly identical ammonite logo seen on the Kirkland Chablis, which is a close resemblance to the logo on the Jean-Marc Brocard bottles. This leads us to believe that Kirkland Signature Chablis Premier Cru is a product of Jean-Marc Brocard. It just took a little detective work to confirm this one.
60 Kirkland Signature Organic Chicken Stock: Swanson
Many manufacturers are linked to Costco’s products, but some reports just aren’t true. There’s been a long-running rumor that Kirkland’s Signature Organic Chicken Stock is produced by Swanson. We decided to check this one out, and a handy search led us to the truth.
We can confirm that Kirkland’s Signature Organic Chicken Stock is made by Kirkland Signature Inc. and not Swanson. While the ingredients are nearly the same, both are USDA organic and filled with spices, Costco produces its own product. This is a case where the knockoff brand tastes just as nice as the name brand, so don’t hesitate to buy it anyway!

62 Kirkland Tequila: La Madrileña
If you’ve ever wondered who makes Costco’s tequila, we have an insider hack for you. One way to find out where a particular tequila is produced is to look at the NOM, which is an identifying number seen on the bottle that tracks the exact location the tequila is made. So, there’s anything as easy as to find out this particular information!
The folks over at Tequila Taste Matchmaker linked all of the Kirkland Signature tequilas to La Madrileña in Tototlan, a city in the Mexican state of Jalisco. If that sounds familiar, it’s because that’s the same distillery that produces Tabasco’s brand of tequila. So, there’s a reputable name behind the Costco brand.
63 Kirkland Signature Leggings: Lululemon
TikTok sensation Ashley Marie caused quite a stir when she went on the social media platform claiming that Kirkland’s Signature Leggings were nearly identical to the expensive legging brand Lululemon. Several users agreed with her assessment and took to the internet to speculate if the Costco brand was actually a big brand in disguise.
While the leggings are manufactured in-house by Kirkland, that hasn’t stopped Marie from being outspoken about the similarities between the two. “Overall, I think Kirkland signature leggings are an excellent dupe to Lululemon—they have similar stitching, side pockets, and feel,” Marie told Parade during an interview.
64 Kirkland Signature Wild Alaskan Fish Oil: Trident Seafoods
One way to discover that a Costco product is backed by a big name brand is when the item hits the news. This was the case for the Kirkland Signature Wild Alaskan Fish Oil, which is made by Trident Seafoods.
According to The Seattle Times, a 2018 lawsuit alleged that the fish oil supplement sold by Costco and produced by Seattle-based Trident Seafoods contained less omega fatty acids than the label said it did. The case was dismissed and Trident Seafoods released a statement regarding the lawsuit stating the product is “regularly tested to verify purity, potency, safety, and stability” by a third-party laboratory. Knowing this, don’t hesitate to buy the house brand rather than the more expansive one!

One look at the back of the bottle gives you all the info you need to confirm the quality. “Kirkland Signature Rosé is produced in the Côtes de Provence Appellation by Olivier Sumeire, an 8th generation grape grower and vintner, whose family has been passionate about winemaking in Provence since the XIIIth Century,” the bottle reads.
